Jan Öhrström, MD
Chief Executive Officer
From 2000 to July 2007, Dr. Öhrström held various positions at ZymoGenetics, Inc., a biotech company, including Senior Vice President, Business Development from 2006 to 2007 and prior to that, Senior Vice President of Development and Chief Medical Officer. From 1990 to 1999, Dr. Öhrström held various positions at Novo Nordisk A/S, based in Denmark, including Director, Worldwide Development Portfolio, head of Strategic Marketing, while he also served as Medical Director for Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Öhrström earned his MD from the University of Copenhagen in 1984 and did six years of clinical practice in Neurology/Neurosurgery in Sweden and Denmark.
Jaap Koopman, PhD
Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Koopman founded ProFibrix in 2004 and led the company through a seed financing round in January 2005 and the first round of venture funding in February 2007. He has over 20 years experience in biomedical research focusing on various aspects of haemostasis, particularly fibrinogen and fibrin formation. Dr. Koopman is a member of the Counsel of the International Fibrinogen society and is co-chairman of the ISTH sub-committee for fibrinogen standardization. Dr. Frohna has designed and conducted more than 20 clinical trials in the U.S., Canada, and the EU, and has also been involved with the filing of 7 INDs and two successful NDA filings to the FDA. Dr. Frohna previously served as Vice President, Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs at a private stem cell company in California from 2007 to 2008, and from 2006 to 2007 was atFibroGen, Inc. where he served in multiple clinical development roles, including Head of Drug Safety, Senior Medical Director, and finally as Acting Vice President for Clinical Development. Prior to that, Dr. Frohna's professional experience includes service as Head of Clinical Pharmacology at CV Therapeutics from 2004 to 2006, and as Medical Director for Specialty Biotherapeutics at Genentech from 2001 to 2004. Dr. Frohna has held graduate teaching posts at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy.Dr. Frohna holds a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and an MD from Georgetown University Medical School.
Eliane Schutte, MSc
Chief Development Officer
Ms. Schutte has built up an extensive track record at a number of biotechnology companies. At tissue engineering company IsoTis NV (now part of Integra Life Sciences) she was Vice President Regulatory Affairs & Quality Affairs with responsibilities for the development of the medical devices and regulatory affairs for all IsoTis medical device products as well as for regenerative medicine products in the area of skin, cartilage and bone. She developed successful strategies to obtain regulatory clearance or approval in such diverse markets as the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and frequently interfaced with regulators such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the European Medicines Agency, notified bodies, and national regulatory authorities. Ms. Schutte started her career as a senior QA officer at Medtronic. She has degrees in Health Sciences and Business Administration and is RAC certified.Ms. Schutte is also senior partner at Signifix BV, a life sciences QA/RA consulting firm she co-founded that provides strategic advice, consulting, and interim management in regulatory affairs and quality systems.
Linda Zuckerman, PhD
President ProFibrix Inc.
Dr. Zuckerman received her Ph.D. in immunology from the University of Chicago in 1996 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UCSF thereafter. In 2000, she joined Genentech as a scientist in the Development Sciences Dept. In 2001, Linda joined ZymoGenetics where she was a Director of PreClinical Development overseeing pharmacology and bio-analytical groups. Linda joined ProFibrix in October 2008, as a VP of PreClinical Development and is responsible for pharmacology, PK, toxicology, bio-analytical, and clinical immunogenicity programs for ProFibrix’s protein therapeutics. Recently, Linda has assumed the role of President of ProFibrix Inc. heading up the Seattle site.Martijn Meijer, CPA
Vice President Finance
From 2003 until 2007, Mr. Meijer was Chief Financial Officer at NEM B.V., a privately held Dutch engineering company and a major player in the global market for solutions in power generation. From 1992 to 2003, Mr Meijer was at Deloitte Accountants, where from 1998 to 2003 he was Senior Audit Manager, supporting general auditing practices, financing activities and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Meijer is a certified public accountant and a member of the Royal Netherlands Institute of Registered Accountants.
